YYZumbi
Two classic Rush songs met eye to eye in a battle to death! Which song will win? The Spirit Of Radio or Tom Sawyer?
Disk98
The Spirit of Radio is better because it has much more energy. It's a really uplifting song. And it was the first song I heard live, so there's that.
rocket ignites
TSOR. Tom Sawyer is great, but I'm tired of it being the cliche Rust hit everyone's grandma knows... TSOR is just better anyways. So is Limelight.
x1yyz
The Spirit of Radio, hands down. It's probably my all-time favourite song (off my all-time favourite album); a well-written, well-composed, yet fun and catchy tune, and the lyrics mean so much to me given my close association with radio for many years. Tom Sawyer has some great music, yes, but the lyrics are stupid. "Catch the spirit, catch the spit."
prolix
TSOR. It was the first Rush song I heard and every time I listen to it, it doesn't disappoint. Tom Sawyer doesn't have the heart that TSOR does and the lyrics mean so much more.
Permanent-Rush
The Spirit Of The Radio for me. I love Tom Sawyer, but I think imo The Spirit Of The Radio is better.
Lucas
I'll never forget the first time I heard The Spirit Of Radio .. My Dad had the radio on in the car, and the DJ says "And here's the new one from Rush" - there was a momentary pause, I held my breath in anticipation, and then that guitar Loved it immediately The Spirit Of Radio it is
HemiBeers
TSOR. More 'spirit' and more difficult to play. Tom Sawyer is great but it's duh duh duh duhhhhhhhhh (power chord), duh duh duhhhhhhh (next power chord), etc. etc.
Verena
The Spirit Of Radio won me since I first listened. Among my personal top 10, surely.

EagleMoon
They're both great songs but TSOR wins by a length.

TheAccountant
Very close & hard to pick. Lets put it this way, TSOR is a top 15 Rush song for me. I don't think it cracks the top 10 - for me. Tom Sawyer is a top 10 Rush song. Voted for Tom Sawyer.
Derek19
There is the same one, has been the same as "Tom Sawyer Vs. the Spirit of Radio", and two of Rush's breakthrough hit songs, with "Closer to the Heart", and "the Trees". For that reason, I didn't vote. Edited April 4, 2019 by Derek19
GeddyLeeRoth
Tom Sawyer easily. Catch the mystery, catch the drift... Edited May 9, 2019 by GeddyLeeRoth
spaceaudity11
The Spirit of Radio... The song is just so ELECTRIC. I love me some Tom Sawyer, but TSOR is just next level.
Entre_Perpetuo
Both make my Rush top 10, but TSOR makes my Rush top 5.
chemistry1973
I feel like we discussed this another thread. Tom Sawyer always drags live. TSOR never does. Studio Version Tom Sawyer is better than TSOR.
Planet X-1
TSOR, live or studio (Alex tears it up during the solo on R30...). While I don`t think TS drags live, it does lack the crispness and punch of the studio version...
