Entre_Perpetuo
Sometimes an artist releases a wonderful work of art that, intentionally or not, turns out to be their last. Some examples include Queen's Innuendo, or David Bowie's recent Blackstar. What are some of your favorites and why? Ancient Ways
I thought this was about the swan song label but you mean final albums from bands. Hmmmm... It's too easy to say but clockwork angels was a real treat after the somewhat plodding and lyrical train wreck that was snakes and arrows.

I'm still holding out for 2017 ;) But CA does rock.

treeduck
Are Swansong releasing all of Zeppelin's albums AGAIN?? What are they going for the world record for most remasters???
Wil1972
Well most definitely Abbey Road. Although Let it Be came out last, Abbey Road was recorded after Let it Be. So yea, Abbey Road. And I agree about CA too.
Rod in Toronto
I like In Through the Out Door, and it fits both interpretations of this thread. Yay!!!!
Union 5-3992
Blackstar may be the undisputed champion right now. Brainwashed by George Harrison is also fantastic. One Kind Favor by BB King is one of his very best records and the last one he ever made. Though he died 8 or so years later I believe he intended it to be his last. The Wind by Warren Zevon. It seems knowing the end is coming really drives an artist/band to make something great. You could argue Abbey Road and Innuendo were driven by the same thing
Lucas
David Bowie, Warren Zevon, Freddie - any artist that knows the end is near and summons the strength and courage to record is heroic and gut wrenchingly inspiring .. I'm going with Innuendo as the favorite though .. Chuck Berry has his admittedly final album coming out in 2017 too - Edited October 22, 2016 by Lucas
