I made the choices consecutive because I am going with the conceptual flavor of era, but have made it a multiple choice poll because I have divergent preferences. I didn't include Feedback among the trios. Like so much else, my list here changes with the wind:

1) A Farewell To Kings, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves

2) Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows, Hold Your Fire.

3) Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Signals.

4) Fly By NIght, Caress Of Steel, 2112.

Chronologically:

1. Rush, Fly By Night, Caress of Steel

2. 2112, A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres

3. Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures

4. Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows, Hold Your Fire

5. Hold Your Fire, Presto, Roll the Bones

But in order of my personal preference, those would go 3, 2, 1, 5, 4.

And Clockwork Angels is in a special fantastic category all its own. ;)

Kings, Hemispheres, Waves

It was a tough choice between Kings and Pictures, but I sided with Xanadu

When I created the poll, I thought that by allowing multiple choice that it would give us the ability to rank our choices. I cannot help but wonder how its not doing this will effect the accuracy of displaying majority favorites.

In that case, I'll give it some more thought :ebert:

My first three choices would be the three that contain Hemispheres ;)

Followed by Pictures, Signals, GUP, then Rush, FBN, Caress

While I love later albums, there's not really any in a three album run that I'd go for

Hemispheres (if only for side two), Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures. I guess it wouldn't count if I included side two of Hemispheres and side one of Signals…

1) Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Signals

2) Fly by Night, Caress of Steel, 2112

3) Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows, Hold Your Fire

My real second-favorite would be MP-Signals-GUP, but I wanted to avoid redundancy in my choices.

Later trios are brought down by Vapor Trails. :|

For me it would be:

1) Caress Of Steel, 2112, A Farewell To King's

2) Fly By Night, Caress Of Steel, 2112

3) Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures

4) Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows, Hold Your Fire

5. Power Windows, Hold Your Fire, Presto

Basically any combination of albums from he debut through to Presto that DOES NOT include Signals.

Went with Hemi, Waves, Pictures. What a brilliant run of music!

I chose these too.

In second I chose: Signals, Grace Under Pressure and Power Windows.

Third: Vapor Trails, Snakes & Arrows, Clockwork Angels.

Fourth: Caress of Steel, 2112, A Farewell to Kings

The greatest greatness started with 2112 in my view. What came before I still love and enjoy of course...

I voted for:

A Farewell To Kings, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves because that's the only trio wherein I love every single song.

Songs bookended by:

"When they turn the pages of history, when these days have passed long ago, will they read of us with sadness, for the seeds that we let grow? We turned our gaze from the castles in the distance. Eyes cast down on the path of least resistance... ...wave after wave will flow with the tide and bury the world as it does. Tide after tide will flow and recede, leaving life to go on as it was.

Tie for #1 between A Farewell To Kings, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves and Vapour Trails, Snakes & Arrows, Clockwork Angels. Followed closely by a bunch of the other combinations.

Oooh, I never before realized how those two could go together.

What makes this choice more interesting is that we are taking the trio as one

At first, I debated whether to have 2112 and A Farewell To Kings partnered with Caress or Hemispheres - thinking "Do I enjoy Caress Of Steel or Hemispheres more ?"

But taken as one, I prefer what Rush was 1975-1977, with Caress being an exciting step into uncharted territory ( .. not that Hemispheres wasn't )
