Its either Power Windows or HYF. Today I will go with HYF but on a different day my vote could easily go to Power Windows.

 

Grace Under Pressure, Signals, Presto & Counterparts are all great (IMO) but they are not on the same level as Power Windows & HYF.

I somewhat retract that first post, but maybe more of an addendum Style and prose wise, PW and HYF still hold up for me, but . he really drew me in on Fly by Night with Anthem and Beneath, Between and Behind. I still love BBB as much as I did the first time i heard it and it was fun to play, but the lyrics really rang so true and still do and that's when I really took note of Neil for the first time. And as far as by Tor goes, it's actually rather clever once you get the entire story behind the names, the whole Tobes of Hades thing and the rest.

Permanent waves for me. Natural science is genius. Love the paul Simon homage in TSOR and freewill works without beating you over the head like SnA.

As an Atheist I find Snakes & Arrows really empowering and my favourite lyrically by a mile.

I would say Windows but Marathon is weak and I would never say HYF. Shan, Prime, Second Nature are weak imo.

Clockwork Angels. The story that Neil so eloquently conveys is simply captivating. Vapor Trails has some good lyrics also, but I like the whole concept CA has going on.

Anything from FBN through PoW is pretty much genius. Starting with Tai Shan he started having some songs that just don't work for most, but he's still been able to pull dozens of great ones since then, albeit with less consensus. Then of course CA is pretty much a masterpiece like in the early days.
